Frequently asked questions

Is this tool really free to use?

Yes, FloorPlanMaker is completely free to use without any signup or account creation. We implement a fair-use limit per hour per IP address to ensure everyone has access to the generator.

Can I use these plans for building permits?

No, these are conceptual floor plans intended for visualization and space planning. They are not engineered blueprints, CAD files, or permit-ready documents. You should consult a professional builder or architect for construction-ready drawings.

What dimensions should I use for a tiny house?

Most road-legal tiny houses are 8.5 feet wide. Lengths typically vary between 16 and 32 feet. If you are building on a foundation, you have more flexibility, but keeping one dimension under 12 feet often simplifies transport and construction.

Can I add lofts to my floor plan?

While this is a 2D top-down view, you can describe loft areas. The generator will represent the footprint of the loft or the stairs leading up to it to show how it interacts with the ground-floor layout.
