Shed floor plans by size
Click a size to open it as an editable, to-scale plan. The description stays in the box above, so you can change the dimensions and generate your own.
Start with the footprint (12 × 10 ft, 8 × 12 ft, 10 × 16 ft), then say where the door goes, which way it swings, and what has to fit inside: a workbench, shelving, a bed, a desk. You get a to-scale 2D plan you can check before you buy a kit or build the frame.
How to plan a shed floor plan
Give the size
Enter the outside footprint in feet, for example 12 × 10 ft. Common kit sizes are 8×10, 8×12, 10×12, 10×16, and 12×16.
Place doors and windows
Say which wall gets the door, how wide it is, and whether it opens inwards. Wide or double doors matter for mowers and furniture.
List what goes inside
Workbench, shelving, bikes, a bed, a desk, or a kitchenette. Add sizes if you know them.
Check and download
Review clearances, then download SVG or PNG to share with a builder or take to the store.
Choosing a shed size and layout
A shed footprint is usually quoted outside wall to outside wall, so plan furniture against the inside size: with 2×4 framing and siding you lose roughly 4 to 6 inches each way. Leave at least 3 ft of clear floor in front of a workbench and in the path from the door.
Door width drives what the shed can store. A 3 ft single door is fine for tools, but a riding mower or a sofa needs a 5 to 6 ft double door. An inward-opening door needs swing space inside, so keep furniture out of that arc.
If the shed will be lived in or used as an office, check your local rules first. Many areas allow sheds under a size limit (often 120 sq ft, like 12 × 10 ft) without a permit only when they are not used for sleeping. These plans are conceptual layouts, not construction drawings.
Frequently asked questions
Can I make a 12x10 shed floor plan?
Yes. Type "12 x 10 ft" plus what you want inside, or click the 12 × 10 ft example to open it as an editable plan.
Does it show the door swing?
Yes. Say "door opens inwards" or "outwards" and the plan draws the swing so you can see the clearance it needs.
Are these construction plans?
No. They are to-scale 2D planning layouts for furniture and storage. Use a builder or a permit drawing for framing and foundations.
Is it free?
Yes, with no signup. Generation has hourly fair-use limits, and you can download SVG or PNG.
