Kitchen floor plan examples
Example layouts to compare galley, L-shaped, and U-shaped kitchens. This is an examples page — for laying out your own existing kitchen from scratch, use the kitchen planner.
Kitchen floor plans are about the work triangle: sink, stove, and fridge, and how much counter sits between them. This page is a set of finished examples you can open and edit. If you already have a kitchen and want to rearrange it from scratch, use the kitchen planner instead — the two pages link to each other.
How to make a kitchen floor plan
Give the room size
Enter the inside dimensions, for example 10 × 12 ft, and which wall has the door or pass-through.
Pick a shape
Galley (two runs), L-shape, U-shape, or an island. Say it in the description.
Place sink, stove, and fridge
Keep them in a compact triangle when you can, with landing space beside the stove and sink.
Check and download
Open the result in the editor, check aisle width, then download SVG or PNG.
Kitchen shapes and clearances
A galley kitchen uses two parallel counters and needs a clear aisle — often about 42 to 48 in for one cook. An L-shaped kitchen frees a corner for a table or an island. A U-shaped kitchen adds a third run and more storage.
Many designers keep the sink–stove–fridge triangle under about 26 ft total walking distance. Leave landing space on at least one side of the stove and sink.
This page shows example kitchen floor plans. The kitchen planner and kitchen layout planner are for redesigning a kitchen you already have. Restaurant and commercial kitchens have their own pages.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from the kitchen planner?
This page collects kitchen floor plan examples to start from. The kitchen planner is the tool for laying out your own kitchen from a blank description.

Yes. Click the L-shaped example with an island, or describe the island size and seating in your own words.
Do you cover restaurant kitchens?
Commercial and restaurant kitchens are on separate pages. This page is for home kitchen floor plans.
Are these construction plans?
No. They are to-scale 2D planning layouts. Confirm appliance sizes and clearances with your cabinet maker or contractor.
Is it free?
Yes, with no signup. Generation has hourly fair-use limits, and you can download SVG or PNG.
