How to make a two story house plan
Give the footprint
Enter the ground-floor size, for example 30 × 28 ft, and say "two-story".
Split the rooms by floor
List living, kitchen and dining downstairs, and which bedrooms and baths go upstairs — or keep the primary suite downstairs.
Place the stair
Say where the stair sits, for example "central stair" or "stair by the front door". It appears on both floors.
Check and download

One story vs two story
Two story house plans use a smaller lot for the same floor area, and they separate quiet bedrooms from living noise. The tradeoff is stairs: they need clear headroom and they take space on both floors.
A master-down plan keeps the primary bedroom on the ground floor and puts other bedrooms upstairs, which helps if stairs are hard later. A half bath downstairs saves guests a trip up.
