A 4 bedroom house plan needs enough hall space so bedrooms do not open into each other, and usually at least two bathrooms. One-story plans spread the bedrooms around the living area; two-story plans put most bedrooms upstairs. Open an example below, or type the footprint and rooms you need.

How to make a 4 bedroom house plan

  1. Pick one or two floors

    Say "one-story" or "two-story" and give the footprint, for example 52 × 30 ft.

  2. List the rooms

    Four bedrooms, bathrooms (2 or 2.5+), kitchen, living, dining, laundry, and any garage or office.

  3. Group the bedrooms

    Keep the primary suite separate when you can, and put the other three on a shared hall with a bath.

  4. Check and download

    Open the result in the editor, check hallways and closet space, then download SVG or PNG.

Sizing a 4 bedroom home

Four bedrooms often land between about 1,500 and 2,500 sq ft for a family house, depending on how large the living spaces are. On one floor, a shared bath for the secondary bedrooms saves plumbing runs. On two floors, a half bath downstairs is enough for guests.

Size each bedroom from the furniture: a queen bed is 60 × 80 in, and you want walking space on the sides you use. Many US codes based on the IRC ask for habitable rooms of at least 70 sq ft.

How big is a 4 bedroom house?

It varies. The ranch example here is about 1,560 sq ft; the two-story example is a similar footprint stacked. Type your own size and the plan is drawn to it.

Can I add a garage?

Yes. Add it to the description, for example "with an attached two-car garage".
